Zygmund de Somogyi

Zygmund de Somogyi is a composer and writer currently based in London, UK. Their work explores expressions of metamodernism, online folklore, and recontextualisations of genre and form. They completed their MMus at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Ed Bennett, Edwin Roxburgh, and Howard Skempton, and have recently been commissioned by Gaudeamus Screendive, Access Contemporary Music Chicago, Arc Project, cellist Ben Tarlton, and Opera in Oborne, the latter premiering their debut opera hikikomori! in April 2022. Alongside composition, Zygmund is a member of immersive theatre collective mushmoss, and is artistic director of contemporary music magazine PRXLUDES.
