Anna Hill

Composer

Anna Hill is a freshman at the University of Michigan, where she studies composition with Michael Daugherty and is double majoring in violin and composition. She was a student of Emmett Drake for 2 years at the Hartt School of Music Pre-College.

This year, Anna was in the Honors Composition Program and was chosen to write a piece for Opus 89 – a senior level string orchestra. Last summer, she went to Curtis Summerfest for composition and the Cleveland Young Composers Program. She writes both concert music and music for video games.

As a violinist, she is a multiple competition prize winner, including the Bridgeport Symphony competition and the Hartford Symphony Competition. She was a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and graduated in May from the Juilliard Pre-College, where she was a student of Sheryl Staples.
